Things to do Outside of Victoria Falls National Park
Dinner cruise along the Zambezi River
There are many cruise types that are offered but we decided to do a sunset dinner cruise. It was a relaxing night on the water. We were able to see hippos and found a baby crocodile while on the cruise.
Vulture Culture Experience
Every day at 1 pm, the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers a feeding of these endangered birds to all guests of the Victoria Falls area. It was an unexpectedly enjoyable experience. Best of all, it came with no price tag.
Go and see the “Big Tree”
This is a large Baobab tree located not far from Victoria Falls National Park. It is somewhere between 1000 and 1500 years old with a girth coming in over 50 feet!
Elephant encounter
On our last day we spent a couple of hours meeting rescued and orphaned elephants. The team lets you meet the elephants and feed the gentle giants. It was a unique experience being up close and personal. They also show all the hard work they do in caring for the different elephants they get. Jock was our favorite and we came home with his unique footprint which is now framed and hanging in our house.
Zipline and other Aerial adventures over Victoria Falls
This is not for the faint hearted. We opted for the zipline but they also offer a flying fox or gorge swing for the more adventurous seekers. The zipline was long and only one way so they must pull you back.
Helicopter Tour
If you want a complete view of Victoria Falls this is the best way to accomplish that. The flight will offer views of the Zambezi River before it plunges over Victoria falls. These are incredible views you can’t get from being at ground level. We did not do this as we were quite impressed by just seeing the views from the national park on the Zimbabwe side.
